Professional Carpet Cleaning Technician
Location: Greater Landover / Prince George’s County, Maryland
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $18.00–$22.00 per hour, based on experience
Experience Required: 1–2 years preferred
- Perform professional carpet cleaning in residential and commercial properties.
- Inspect carpet before cleaning and determine the appropriate cleaning method.
- Identify common carpet fibers and construction types, including nylon, polyester, olefin/polypropylene, wool, blends, Berber, cut-pile, loop-pile, and commercial glue-down carpeting.
- Recognize carpet conditions that may require special treatment or precautions.
- Pre-vacuum, pre-condition, agitate, extract, rinse, spot-treat, groom, and properly dry carpet as needed.
- Perform hot-water extraction/steam cleaning using professional equipment.
- Operate portable extractors, carpet wands, rotary equipment, CRB machines, upholstery tools, wet vacuums, air movers, and related professional cleaning equipment.
- Properly mix and apply cleaning chemicals according to manufacturer instructions.
- Understand basic pH principles and select appropriate cleaners, rinses, spotters, and treatments.
- Identify and treat common stains such as food, beverages, grease, soil, pet stains, urine, ink, gum, and other contaminants.
- Perform colorfastness and material testing when necessary before applying chemicals.
- Avoid over-wetting, fiber damage, dye bleeding, browning, shrinkage, and other preventable cleaning problems.
- Clean stairs, hallways, common areas, offices, apartments, homes, and commercial facilities.
- Move light furniture when necessary and return the work area to an orderly condition.
- Protect walls, floors, furniture, baseboards, and customer belongings while performing services.
- Set up air movers or other drying equipment when appropriate.
- Perform upholstery cleaning when trained and assigned.
- Complete before-and-after documentation and photographs when required.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding cleaning expectations, stains, damage, and recommended services.
- Maintain a clean and organized company vehicle and work area.
- Clean, inspect, and maintain hoses, wands, extractors, sprayers, filters, brushes, cords, and other equipment after use.
- Report equipment problems or maintenance needs promptly.
- Follow PuroClean safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Assist with other cleaning or restoration services when needed.

1–2 years of professional carpet-cleaning experience preferred.
- Hands-on experience with professional carpet-cleaning and extraction equipment.
- Knowledge of carpet fibers, textures, cleaning methods, stains, and cleaning chemicals.
- Ability to determine when a carpet or textile requires special treatment.
- Ability to operate equipment safely and troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good customer service and communication skills.
- Dependable attendance and ability to arrive at jobs on time.
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
- Ability to follow written work orders and verbal instructions.
- Professional appearance and attitude.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record for positions requiring operation of a company vehicle.
- Ability to pass employment screening required for the position and applicable customer or contract sites.
- Lift and carry approximately 50 pounds.
- Bend, kneel, reach, pull, push, and stand for extended periods.
- Carry equipment up and down stairs.
- Handle hoses and professional cleaning equipment.
- Work in occupied and unoccupied residential and commercial properties.
- Safely use required PPE and cleaning products.
